The Longshed 26 November 2024
One of the highlights of 2024 was an out-of-hours trip to The Longshed in Woodbridge organised by the U3A and East Ipswich Camera Club. A small group of us spent a couple of hours taking photos with access all areas and some demonstrations of tools being used on the ship build. To me, this was fascinating, as I am completely in awe of this piece of experimental archaeology (the building of a replica of the Sutton Hoo burial ship excavated by Basil Brown before the Second World War). The evening made me realise that I wanted to be a part of this monumental effort, so offered my services as a volunteer at the start of December - to date (February 2025) I still haven't been contacted for a conversation, which is a bit disappointing, but I hope to get involved at some point in 2025.
